Real -Time Operating System

Real -Time operating system is designed to respond to an event in predetermined time. A real- time system has well defined , fixed time constraints. Processing must be done within the defined constraints, or the system will fail. A very impotent part of real - time operating system is managing the resources of computer so that a particular operation executes precisely the same amount of time every time it occurs. Primary objective of real time operating system is to provide quick response time and thus to meet a scheduling deadline. The user convenience and resource utilization are secondary concern.
Examples of real - time operating system are those which handle airlines reservation, machine tool control, rocket launching, flight control, robotics and so on.
