Characteristics of Computers
Speed :
A computer can process millions of calculations per second. The speed of computation is vary high.
Accuracy :
Besides the efficiency, the computers are also very accurate. The level of accuracy depends on the instructions. Since the computer is capable of doing only what it is instructed to do, faulty instructions for data processing may lead to faulty results. This is known as GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out).
Diligence :
Computer, being a machine, does not suffer from the human traits of tiredness and lack of concentration. A computer can perform complex and long calculations with the same speed and accuracy.
Versatility :
Computers are quite versatile in nature. They can perform multiple tasks simultaneously with equal ease.
Storage :
Computer can store large amount of data/ information in its memory which can be retrieved at any point of time.
Resource sharing :
Computers today have the capability to connect with each other. This has made the sharing of costly resources possible.
